Re: 1.4 16v convertion.
So after being in a non-fault accident, I am looking to convert my little 1.4 into the gti. Does anyone have any advice or a guide on how to do this.

Re: 1.4 16v convertion.
After a bit of research if found this:
Parts required from GTi
Engine
Gearbox
Drivers side engine mount
ECU
Pedal box
Fuel pump
Engine loom
Interior loom
98 onwards headlamp switch
GTi clocks
Mk5 window motors and switches
Mk5 tail lights
98 onwards indicator stalks
I'd also recommend the front brake setup from atleast a 16v
What will i need cause these are for a mk 4 convertion and mines a mk5 so i should have some of these.

Complete waste of time, it will cost you more in parts than actually buying a GTI.
Save yourself time & money and buy a genuine GTI or go for the 1.4 16V 100BHP model if you want more power.
You can get a decent GTI for £2,500 and you will also have the satisfaction of knowing its a genuine GTI.
I pressume you dont know how much the above parts are going to cost?

As it happens, I have almost everything you need for a conversion sat in my garage.... all for sale... simply because, I stupidly crashed my GTI and need the money to pay for it to be fixed!

Not as bad as it sounds..
the GTI is being repaired.... the engine was a spare which I bought to tune up... but obviously, I cant afford to keep the engine AND the polo... so the spare engine has to go...
Fear not.. the GTI will be back
(currently driving a 1.0L 6N Seriously missing GTI power!!)

1.0 must be painful to drive after driving the GTI for so long.
What Price do you have in mind for the engine? Could you also confirm the Mileage & General condition?
Cheers

Saw garage yesterday he said a remap wouldnt make any difference, is he lazy or has he got point. Do i need to do all engine mods then at end do remap based on the engine mods i`v done?
I think a remap is always a bit of a waste of time in a petrol car. You can have all the mods in the word and you would still be doing well if you got more than about 10 extra BHP from the map. You'd be better putting the money into other mods and forget about the map in my opinion. I've had a look online and the remap will lift your car from 75 to 83 bhp. Not really worth it IMO. (Cos they ain't cheap)
