Basically I want this to be the next look on my car:

I've found a set of Design 90's for sale but I think they're 7x16 at the front and 8 x 16 at the back, is this going to cause any problems?
Am I going to have to get four 7 x 16 instead?

Also, what size a tyre will I be needing?

Currently the car isn't lowered but I'm looking at some -40mm springs from Venom.

Oooh... Nice.

His car is lowered approx 100mm though, give or take. See how his wheels nearly tuck under the wing? It's a Mk4 btw.

Anyway.

You should be OK with 8" wide in the back, it would look just a bit better than getting 7" wide all round IMO. The tyres of choice are 195-40-16's all round.

As for the adapters: Aim for an ET of 35 and you'll be ok.

doesnt the mk5 have slightly rolled arches for bigger wheels?
the late mk4s had that.

I think you're right - no proof though, but yeah it's what I've heard from several people now. And, if the rears catch you can always have the arches rolled, won't cost an arm/leg/kidney.

yeah my nans mk4 is an N-reg and it has no bubbled arches like later mk4's n mk5's

so 195/45/16 on a mk5 should be no problem. on a mk4 it rubs at the front at the top of the arch when on full lock. :(

Mine scrapes and makes horrible metal-on-metal sounds. It's most likely the inner side of the wheel that's scraping along the bodywork or driveshaft somewhere.

I might just lower it some more next week.

Yeah it's only on full lock, turning left, on the left side of the car. It's not that low really, maybe @ -70mm? It may be lower. That weird front tyre throws me off.

We got nast bumps here as well. Nastier than I experienced a few weeks back in the UK. Highways especially are dangerous for lowered cars - massive potholes or even crazy dips or bumps make it pretty 'involving' to drive...
