bloody parrot bluetooth!!!!!!!!

Post by vwmorty »

right folks bit of a strange one this, last few weeks the polos starting to get a flat battery-not good when the wife depends on her car to get to work

ive narrowed it down to to a few things,
1, the ipod connecter in the glove box--took out the ipod
2, the parrot blue tooth thing that seems to be an a premenant live-- think its connected thru the stereo somehow
3, alternator is gubbed and wont charge the battery-- took battery out and charged on charger and was fine

anyway anyone had any other problems like this???

i will be taking out the parrot kit as soon as ive figured out how to get the radio out ( not got the removal keys) and will see if that cures it
also where the hell is the fuse box, the closest thing ive found is under the dash at my right knee behind a plastic cover with a few relays

ps....anyone got the removal keys that lives near me??? (irvine ayrshire scotland)

Fusebox is in the side of the dasboard on the driver's side. Open the door fully and prise off the side panel - there's a little hole to get a screwdriver in. Sorry that sounds a bit vague lol, think there's a diagram in the owners manual if you're still confused.
Radio removal keys are about £3 from halfords for a pair - that said you need 4 so £6. Always useful to have lying around.
I've got a parrot and its a bit of a job to get the wires all in the right places, if its wired up right then it should say goodbye when you turn the ignition off. Its meant to take the permanent from the stereo and switched from somewhere else.

Hope this helps

yes the ipod is connected to the standard head unit, theres a part that can be bought that replaces the cd changer, plugs into the changers connecter at the back of the stereo and can be run the cable thru to the glovebox sos its all hidden, mines was done before i got the car but im sure i seen a thread on here explaning how its done.

no need to chop wires just plug in and play, as they say :D

hope this helps

If you're putting the ipod connector in you need to ground it to something. Just needs splicing into the ground wire from the radio - thats what mine looks like anyway.
The VW part replaces the cd changer if you have one fitted, some aftermarket kits allow you to keep it and have the ipod connected as well.
