I want to fit some 17"s on my Polo, hopefully some Fox 3 Evo's, obviously I'll need to have the suspension dropped so it doesn't look like a beach buggy, but will I need my arches rolled?

Cheers

I'd bet on 'yes, you will'. It probably depends on the tyres (wide or not) and the ET, but they're just too big. No big drama though, just get them rolled if 17's are what you want.

I've just joined the site and this is exactly what I was wanting to know. Just got myself a wee 1.4 mk4.

So fitting 17" is possible but what about tyre sizes?

Welcome Smoothie! 8)

must stick with 205/40/17
well for cheap(ish) tyres.

for no arch mods, u can go for 15" with 195/45/15
or 16" with 195/40/16

Hope this helps

Stick to 15" wheels. I fitted 15's to mine however I did lose power with the added weight of the wheels, 17's will seriously affect the handling especially in the wet. With the polo go for the width of the wheel instead of the height. mine are 7.5" wide but I had arch scrub on full lock with the standard ride height, however this was cured with a 60mm drop.

Mk4 Scotland

any chance of emailing me a couple of bigger pics of your car with the 17" alloys. Its just I've not seen many Polos with this size of wheel.

Oh! .....and I think my rear arches have already been rolled by the looks of things.

Well I've changed my mind.

17s seem too much hassle so am going for 16" Brock B1s (I think that is what they are called) from Venom Motorsport.

Planning to order them tomorrow.

Hope they have them in stock cause would like to have them on for going to the Edinburgh Cruise at Hermiston Gate on Sat night after the FastCar show at Ingleston.

Cheers for the advice chaps
