How much for cambelt kit & labour? 1.4 16v

Post by mk5 polo »

Hey all

Its time for a cambelt change, it's got 57k and its time to get it done for piece of mind.

I have been quoted £330 for a cambelt kit & water pump, fitted. What you think of this price?

Thanks
Franco

thats a good ish quote.

I got quoted £292 from Mr Clutch on my polo gti.

I would expect around £250 from an independant garage tho.

My kit and water pump cost me £125 from GSF, try euro parts as well.

Thats about right for a cambelt change. Id always get genuine parts for the cambelt and waterpump due to the quality and 2 year warranty that comes with them!

That's the exact quote that I got off VW. TBH it's not a bad price really.

I took mine back to GSF and went to vw for parts. £205 all in and they give you back £29 for the water pump. I have found a mechanic to do it for £110+vat.

Is that a vw kit?

They give you 2 years warrenty!

GSF don't even give the 1p change on £99.99p product! Cheep C**TS

Had ours done a few weeks bacl (AHW engine)

Around £100 for parts inc new water pump and around £70 labour ;) Mates rates though, plus I had the clutch done at the same time and it was £340 for the entire job (clutch and timing belt/water pump inc labour).

Just shop around mate.
