For anyone interested in 20VT!!!

so from what im reading youve got a 20vt in your polo then?
im going to get one fitted just saving the money. ive fitted a 1.6 16vpolo gti engine to mine but i want more power.

pls could u tell me how u mounted the engine bcos i was curious which way i should go about it. any help would be gr8, thanx!![/b]

nah, I tried and failed.

mate who was helping me f****d off half way through, ran out of money, had to move house.

I will build one some day though. thats for sure.

i fitted the polo gti engine myself but thats adoddle compared to a20vt swap!!

how far did u get with the conversion?

My mate did all the fab work to get the block in and left me to sort the ancillaries and the electrics (the hardest bit as it happens

)

the electrics are a right b***h ive seen 2 20vt's fitted to mk2s and its a lot of wiring with some headscratching thrown in

mostly related with the immobiliser.

mine was bought at a mates rate - VW would probably charge some ridiculous fee

your talking about a grand for just the block and head then theres the gearbox linkage and ancillaries and youll need the clocks and and immb control unit for starts.

better just to get every thing from the one car eh

i heard u cant fit the 6 speed box either

is it cheaper if u buy a Seat with the engine u want and then taking the car apart?

then ull have all the parts u need!

I think it may be easier to just buy an aftermarket management/ecu to run it, such as OMEX etc? Save all the hassle of finding which wire does what etc!

if you can find one for cheaper its basically the same and should have most parts you need

although seat never started using the 1.8t's till later on so it might be hard to find a cheaper one.

if you use an aftermarket ecu , u still need to make the engine loom connect to the new ecu!!

i think it does help for further modifications like remaps etc

Aftermarket managements usually plug staight onto original sensors etc or include a loom to convert.
