Oh dear God I've bullocksed up my wax.

Post by aaronon »

Ok so earlier on I gently reversed into a car and have a small but noticeable crack on my lower rear bumper :(:( but aside from that I decided to wax my car.

Now for two reason, the length I left it on, and the saturated cloth near the end, it's very streaky on the bonnet (I guess engine heat cooked it on) and the streaks are big and swirly and gross.

If I get it washed will the swirl marks go away?!? Or will I need to rewax it with a new unsaturated cloth :(:(

how permanent are streaks?! :(

wax it again in the shade, normally it won't leave marks on youre bonnet
when wax or other show n shine stuff gets hot or warm, it leaves streaks and swirls.
never do this in the sun... you'll end u with the same thing!

Don't worry, the streaks should wash off without any problems.
If you're having trouble buffing it off, you may be using too much, usually only need a pretty thin layer. What wax are you using?

As Turbomier says, wax it in the shade, it makes life easier.

Thanks guys. Waxed it in the shade again tonight there so I'll see how it looks in the morning.

I used collinite wax originally.

To redo the bit I did turtlewax black liquid wax so hopefully the fact it's liquid helped get rid of the streaks. I'll see when I look down on it from my room in the morning :D.

I'm going to take a wee photo of the crack in my bumper tomorrow and post it up to see if you guys think it can be repaired without having to reace the entire rear bumper and bumper strip so keep an eye out please because I really need advice :(

Thanks again hopefully it looks shiney and nice now.
