Hello all,

As spring is here I'm intending of getting a few stone chips sorted which are heading towards rust spots. I spoke to one bodywork place which quoted me £190 as they said he'd need to re-spray the whole door to get the colour match. He claimed that silver paint looks black if it's not done right.

Is this guy for real and if so is £190 a fair price for a door and rear quarter and a sill?

i think it depends where you come from!!
i would say 190 is maybe a little steep around £120-£150 sounds about right

then again it depends on who your getting to do it 4 u!!

i wouldnt take it to a dealership myself as they overcharge and my ones not that good either

mmm, smells a bit like bullsh!t to me but I'm no expert on it, best thing to do is get a few more quotes, there's normally plenty of adverts in local papers for sprayers etc, or try going to a local parts shop and asking them if they know any decent, that's what I did when I needed my MOT and they were brilliant.

i got my mk4 in white sprayed at the rear wheelarch. only the parts rusted etc will be needed to be painted. whole door is really a waste of time & money!
mine was around £150

Had quote for bonnet and it was about !£135,and the guy was right about silver being a bu55er to match !!,at the end of the day you get what you pay for.Good luck

i got my rear panel resprayed dragon green after i had a little accident and i was quoted £240 so i went to sum guy who hooked me up with another guy who we know and got it on the cheap for £160, i have so many stone chips in my bonet i went to vw and got sum touch up paint which they oredered from germany quite cheap not tried it yet though lol. Id do that if i was u
