All I can gather is the factory fit ones were steel, and the after market ones were glass, but I can't be too sure myself.
Karl.

I just looked on polo-gt.co.uk and read polo history.
It says the genesis model has sunroof but doesn't mention the CL having one.
So i wondered if the CL for sale is actually a 1.3 Genesis

if it is a genesis, it should have a GT steering wheel with a silver strip along the spoke at the bottom of the steering wheel, and a rev counter.

We used to have a CL as a family car, that came with a factory glass sunroof.

There are two types of factory sunroof. Cheap push up plastic ones and steel ones. As far as I know they were both available across the range. Ive seen polo fox's with plastic ones anyway. The answer to your question is yes by the way. As I used to have a J reg 1.3 CL squareback that had a steel sunroof:

The steel one is solid and is the same colour as the roof. (ie you cant see through it) It only slides open backwards giving you a nice big hole in your roof although Ive heard you can get a mechanism off an old audi 80 thatll allow it to tilt upwards as well.

do the steel ones just slide back or do they come off like the audi coupe?
I was hoping the car on autotrader was gunna be a Genesis instead of a CL with the metal sunroof, so it had nice interior and rev counter.

I'm seriously contemplating getting another polo before I go too far with my current one, as I REALLY want a sunroof.
One of the best bits about my Golf GTI is the sunroof.
I have a tilt and skide roof in my loft that is aching to go in a polo....
