interior light stays on

Post by red6n2 »

right get your head around this one...

my interior light stays on when put in the position that it should only come on when the doors are open, but if i open the doors it goes off :?

it hasnt even got a fuse in it to power it cause i took it out went to replace it today but only had a 5 amp put it in as a temp solution and it blew it so i thought ok fair enough put a 20 amp in to see if that blue... AND ...sparks the lot and the fuse blew straight away... so its getting power from somewhere and i have no idea where...

i recently earthed my amp and sub to the earthing point in the boot (as suggested by sir perkins... sorry greg i mean alex) do you think that could be its problem ?

ficking wierd lol

perkins mate not parking get it right :P

That should make no difference at all - the interior light is grounded to the front of the car, and not the rear. Thats just the earth point for the rear lights, luggage light and boot equipment.

You have a short circuit in the interior light wiring for sure, and it shouldnt spark when you put a fuse in at all!. The wiring runs up from where the bonnet pull is up the pillar and into the light. The trigger wire from the switch is brown/white. Somewhere, you have a split wire thats shorting them together, or shorting it to the bodywork of the car.
