Cam Belt Change Question

My Gti is over 4 years old now and when i had it serviced/MOT'ed last month they said the cam belt is due for changing, the car has done 37000 miles, the question is does it need replacing yet? anyone esle had theres done yet?

They quoted me £295 less 10% for being on a service plan with them so it comes out at £265.50, seems a reasonable price for the dealers.........
Phoned Awesome GTI they wanted £295 also........

I've got a 1.4 (not a GTi ) which is over 4 years old as well. It went for a service in January and they told me the cam belt was due to be changed. Apparently it needs to be done after 4 years/60,000 miles (I think).

Bit of a hassle since my car's only done 24,000 miles, but I ended up getting it done anyway - I was getting a couple of other things done at the same time so it seemed easier than booking it in later. Think I paid about £260 as well.

vw have changed due time to every 4 years
were do you live rich i can beat that price using gen parts

I've a gti and my local STEELER wants £365 for my cam belt !!!!!!!!!!!!!! so think I might have a go myself , is it a hard job , I'm not a total novice,.......

right guys can do the cambelt change with tensioner gen vw parts from work will be £180 me coming
