Airco issues

You would hear the compressor engage regardless of gas level. Check the wiring plug down by the oil filter on the left hand side is plugged in, and the wiring looks in good order. Sometimes, when these cars are serviced, the plug is disconnected and the mechanic forgets to connect it again.

Yet again, good point as I had the cambelt change service done.

Will check and report back (if only I knew what the compressor looked like ).

Ok, checked it all and the cables seem all sound. There is a brown / black cable going on top of the compressor, and that plugs in a green/blue connector that seems to go to the alternator.

I had someone press the airco button in the car, and not a single sound was audible in the engine room. The light on the A/C button goes on but that is it.

I did not see any moving parts, just the belt going around the pulleys.

Any further thoughts on what I can check?

Check the temperature sensor behind the bumper with a multimeter if you can

Ok - whereabouts behind the bumper? Again, the Haynes does not seem to list any components with regards to this (unless you can tell me on what page it is actually on ).

How would I measure the sensor - 12 volt on ignition on / AC on or something else?

Measure resistance across the two points and put some ice around the sensor and see if the resistance drops

Now where is that sensor exactly in the bumper?

Been looking and looking for this sensor, but can not find anything. Is this a bumper off type job to locate it?

I searched underneath the radiator etc, but did not see it. Whereabouts is the running of the wire as well?

Still not been able to locate this sensor, the Haynes manual does not mention it.

Can it be accessed from inside the engine compartment or do I need to remove the lower grill and get to it from the front?

Remove the bumper - its behind the bumper as I said

As it involves that, what is roughly the cost for a sensor? Wondering if it is better just to buy one and replace saving the hassle of having to do it twice.

(part number would be great as well if anyone has that).

Not been able to locate the sensor part number yet. Does anyone know or have a way of finding this one?

Dealer states that my car does not have the Airco switch in the bumper
