Brake Fluid Change?

Post by Rich_T »

Another service question! :)

VW recommend that the brake fluid be changed every 2 years, this seems very excessive to me seeing as its 50 quid a pop, anyway my car is 4 years old now and not been changed, shall i get it done or not bother?

edit: 2 questions! lol

what about an aircon service? thats recommend every 2 years at £50 also, does this need to be done? or is it just a vw rip off?

Id go by the book and get it all done every 2 years, however everyone is different.
Though not even just to stick to the rules id definitely get the brake fluid changed, mainly as a precaution.. better safe than sorry..
just ask yourself what would you rather, £50 on brake fluid or to crash and end up paying alot more.

Yes I had a letter through the post 2 months after I bought the car in feb this year. Charged 50quid but thought it was worth it (mines the same age as yours).

I'd be inclined to get the brake fluid changed, even if only as a precaution as others have said.

Air con: TBH if its working properly I don't really see the point, isn't it just a re-gas and some of that anti-bacterial stuff they put through? Unless they give you some deal on it then I probably wouldn't bother.
