6n2 Audio System (Original VW)...

Post by kapur »

When i got the car, the gamma/beta tape casette unit was in the top slot, and the coins tray or empty tray (what-ever it's for), was underneath.....

is this how they originally come?

Also, could someone please tell me the order it goes in... I.E.:-

Casette Unit on top
CD Player underneath

OR

CD Player on top
Casette Unit underneath?

I'm thinking of getting the CD player you see, i might just got for the 1 disc and save myself some money...

Any other ideas for a decent system else wise?

Look forward to ya repliez!

I dont know how much a vw single cd player is, but I'd think it was worth upgrading to an aftermarket headunit

the headunit goes on the top and either the tray or the single slot cd player underneath. i think the sinlge slot cd player add on is around £200 fitted from vw, but obviously you could buy one cheaper off ebay etc etc

I would be tempted to agree with mikegti on this one - would it not be possible to replace both the VW unit and the storage tray thingy with a double-DINN headunit? Or perhaps you could get a regular single-DINN headunit and an EQ underneath? I've got ideas but no cash to spend atm, lol  its all going on my alloys...

i had a tape player up top and a single cd player below.
i sold both on ebay and purchased a single cd , it is dual screen so i have it on the bottom and the storage on the top. i dont really keep anything in there part from the odd cd. i got the storage thg free from vw!! yes that is right they said o i think we may have a few kicking about! i almost fainted when they gave me it lol.

About the double din...

I've been looking around for a nice double din multimedia system, but thats way too much (price wise)...

I was looking for one of those which folds out and displays a screen... maybe the pioneers?

I've not got anything in mind at the mo. but you know..... once i get some money through, i'll start with ICE or a pair of fogs!

Thanks for your ideas....

yeh! i did have an after unit in mind.... but none of them really do match the dials and what not...

apart from the sony active black my brother had, which is now in ma dads merc...

it turns open to reveal the tape, and it's got a 10 disc cd changer too!

It did suit the VW Bora we had at one time.... but thats being used now..

I've read alot about sony on the forums aswell.... their a budget brand, and so on...

so u know..... maybe pioneer or alpine?

Something that suits the dash..... someone show me some pics n help me decide!

I'll be buying one of these when i get my gti.

http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/product ... 11a4959a28

seems like a good price, you can change the colour on the screen to match your dials and stuff. built in DAB radio aswell, not just the controler. I got similar JVC unit in my MK4 at the mo.

i think at the end of the day its like most of these thing personal preference. some people may hate the way one stereo looks and others may worship the look.
