Those look like the new rims they put on the Phaeton and Scirocco's but without the black.ianmt wrote:mmm. Not my personal preference.

Re: Alloy/Coilover advice!!
You want good coilovers for 4oo pounds? Good luck. AP's are fine, I'm running on them, but if you want GOOD handling, save up for some KW's or similar.
Those wheels are not a good offset for the Polo, they will sit too far in. Offset of 32ish with a 7.5 rim is what the Audi TT's are, works well for the Polo.
If you can find the right thing, 8" wide rims with offset around 40 would work.
Also the listing does not say the PCD, don't get all worked up about a wheel until you know the PCD is the same and the Center bore is the right size or larger (can be easily worked with an adaptor).

Re: Alloy/Coilover advice!!
k i dont want goood ones for 400 just ones that will do the job i aint got 600 or 900 to spend thats all and the rest on offset..
totaly confused me
Re: Alloy/Coilover advice!!
AP's are good for the money, not as good as more expensive product.
Wheels come in many varieties. IMO, the Polo needs wider wheels or atleast a lower offset. The offset is a measure of where the rim sits in relation to the hub, which influences how far in / out the wheel sits.
If you get a high offset (40+), your wheels will sit further in. If you have a low offset (32 then your wheels sit further out). This helps with traction when cornering as there is a wider track for the car when turning.
Have a look at some technical info so you understand. This one is good: http://www.1010tires.com/tech.asp?type=wheels#offset
IMO the Audi Mk1 TT wheels are great. 7.5" wide, 32 offset. The problem with the TT's are they are heavy.

Re: Alloy/Coilover advice!!
ahhhhh!! now i understand! *minor question" you said an ofset of 32 correct well when i clicked back on my orignal link and searched vw-polo 5 stud-17inch and looked at the other selection of rims mine was a strait 40 were some rims said 38-45 or even 15! to 40 how can they be 15-40 variable sizes shudnt it be once size like a str8 40 or 32 as you said.

Ever considered a set of Dotz? These are my favourite and I've been looking to get them for awhile.
Little video of how they might look whilst moving (video quality is crap, but just a quick search on youtube): https://www.youtube*.com/watch#!v=zBsHyb7 ... re=related

Re: Alloy/Coilover advice!!
Actualllyyy i had looked at these funny enough but i wernt to sure, now seeing it on a polo im hmm , i dno ma m8 got the rims i got in ma pic on his ford focus well he did and they look banging i might go alloy place and see if they have the same rims but with a wider ofset as someone had said, jus a question isint that what spacers do tho, make the wheels wider well not wider jus pushed out more.?
Re: Alloy/Coilover advice!!
Sorry mate, you are confusing me...
The offset of a wheel is fixed by the design. Some wheels come in multiple offsets (eg different wheels).
From what I have seen, a 7.5" wheel works best with an offset of 30 or just over and a 8" wide wheel needs an offset closer to 40 (make sure it clears brakes, etc).

Looks like I'm the only one responding...
AP's are good for the money, I don't think you are going to get better for that price.
You may need new suspension bearings and topmounts for the front, you can get OEM ones or I think H&R or someone do some aftermarket ones to suit. I'd do this if the car has more than 20,000 miles on it regardless as they seem to be prone to failure.
It would be worth getting some rear control arm bushes at the same time, lots of people have gone with the Seat ones which are solid (unlike our dodgy OEM ones) as the car will be partly dissembled to make way for the new kit.
