This topic has been tried to be covered before, but never got completed.
I've sourced a set of Lupo GTi brakes (calipers and carriers), but I'm wondering what else I'll need to get them on.
I've only got a 1.0, so obviously the 8v hubs, and have read that i'll need 16v hubs (or the ones off the GTi) for the brakes to go on.
The "For Sale" Bit:
50. Lupo Gti 256mm Front Calipers / Carriers :-
51. **256mm Discs – Solid x 4
52. **Pagid Pad Part worn x 2
There is no mention of hubs, and I've only read that you need 16v hubs, what are the differences?
Heeelpppppp?
6n2 w/ Lupo GTi Brakes
Re: 6n2 w/ Lupo GTi Brakes
for the rears of course you need the hub as well as you have got drums but for the front I think all 8v and 16v hubs should be the same (not sure though) just make sure the bold pattern for the carriers match

You need 16v hubs as the carriers and calipers mount different to 8v ones

there for the fronts, not the rears
Re: 6n2 w/ Lupo GTi Brakes
why are there 4 disks then?
Re: 6n2 w/ Lupo GTi Brakes
must be spare discs as the rears are 239mm not 256mm
Re: 6n2 w/ Lupo GTi Brakes
yeah that's what I was thinking as well... and why not ventilated disks ?Bepe wrote:must be spare discs as the rears are 239mm not 256mm
btw better not use used pads as they wear out according to the surface of the disk they are on and if used on a different disk it could damage it (according to the garage I go to at least)
Re: 6n2 w/ Lupo GTi Brakes
I never even clocked that there was 4 discs, haha!
It's just the fronts I'm doing, I'll do the backs later.
So I need to get the hubs for the front, too? Do i bother taking the pads, or just buy new ones?

Re: 6n2 w/ Lupo GTi Brakes
personally i would buy new discs and pads but if there is plenty of meat left on them then dont bother, as for the hubs, yes you'll need the 16v hubs or GTi or TDI ones
