GTI Intake Options

Post by JoshGTI »

Im just looking for some info on what intake options are available for the 1.8t 20v. Ive had a look around and cant find many kits available specifically for the polo gti but there seem to be plenty for the golf mk 4 1.8t 20vs. What are people running on there gtis?

Im looking to have the car at stage 2 ( full miltek, FMIC, oo7p, remap etc) by the end of the year so i need something that will be suitable for this level of performance. Maybe if some of the guys running stage 2 or higher could give me some info? it would be much appreciated.

Cheers

Josh

Im running fully stage 2 matey and to fair im just running a good K&N Panel Filter.....id probably do this and by a pd60 intake (from the ibiza) this intake uses all the same fitments and bolt holes so can be fitted with no mods in seconds. It is also quite a bit wider than our intake (gti) so this plus a good panel filter is a win for me. This is what im running mate and its sound :D

i have a fully stage 2'd gti running the following

apr stage 2 software
apr r1 diverter valve
nsp power gasket
n75j valve
turbo back milltek with the highflow milltek cat
forge motorsport turbo inlet pipe
forge motorsport silicone hoses
forge motorsport front mounted intercooler conversion
pd160 intake (from previously running a pannel filter before stage 2)
large jetex filter direct off the maf, positioned on top of the lower half of the std airbox (top of airbox removed) so it still gets a direct cold airflow when on the move

i revommend this filter what i have for looks and defo for performance, i dont suffer from heat soak, mainly due to the front mounted intercooler, but its not too loud and works a treat

heres a pic of it all fitted in my engine bay, as it looks now

So u have just chopped the top off the box of retaining the mount for the pd 160 intake pipe?

no i have just took the top half of the airbox off

not chopped anything, and yeah, the airbox is still held in place on the original fittings and the pd160 is still held in to the airbox correctly too

There is nothing wrong with the stock filter. If you get 1 hp difference by replacing, you'd be the first.
