Re: Brads Progress thread OE/OEM

Post by Bradley »

Just a small update nothing major to report

Well as some of you may know i like my OEM style. My new addition is a new headlight switch,it's the same style as the MK6 golf, new Passat etc. Some european high spec models come with chrome trimmings simular to our GTI clock surrounds which also includes headlight switches, radio nobs etc.

Heres my new OE Chrome trimmed headlight switch.Personally i think it ties in a treat with the clocks but am aware we all have different opinions.

Absolutely spot on that like.

There's a lad over on ClubLupo that's got the same switch. Ties in a treat imo.

Yeh it's nice but it's becoming into abit more common figures now which isn't cool haha.

Not 100% sure yet to be honest dude, ideally i want to get my wheels done fully this time so am going to get some quotes together over the next few weeks. After that a few more subtle little bits.

Yeah I know what you mean about the mileage, it would be nice to keep it at 31K :)

Gutted about the wheels mate, I hope you get some competitive quotes. Split rims can be a nightmare at times.
Did you have the outer lips polished & lacquered last time?

Yeh i mean it's only an evening and weekend car as i have a company car for work purposes but 31k dosent sound half as good as 25k :( .

Yeh i had them repolished and re lacquered,im going to get the centres done this time and the outers sprayed up to where its shown which will be polished and left without any lacquer. There is another set of wheels id like but thats on the DL i don't think it will ever happen though as they're too simular to the RX's/RX2's.

Least it’s not your daily driver though mate, mine is just a few miles off 67K so I’m still very jealous of your mileage haha

Sounds a good plan with the wheels, I always think having polished lips without any lacquer is the way to go.
Provided you keep them clean & polish the lips on a regular basis they should stay looking good for years. The only problem I have encountered is where the actual two rims join, it's impossible to clean in that seal without taking the wheels off the car. Best solution is to use a light bristled tooth brush and just run it gently across the join.

I also use the brush around the bolts because dirt always congregates around them and it’s difficult to clean off.
