So, I have one anoying problem. On my Polo GTI 6N2 something snaps under the first right whell almost every time when I try to drive away and the whells are turned left or right! If i go back and then turn the wheel to the left and go forward something snaps?!?!? My garage mechanic looked at the car and all seems OK to him! But the problem is still there! Doesn anybody have some IDEA what to look for?
PS: sorry for my ENGLISH writing!

Something snaps under the car?
Hiya,
I have exactly the same problem. Every time I start her up and put her in reverse to back out of the driveway there is a slight snap from one of the wheels. I haven't been able to tell which one but it feels like one of the back two..... almost as if one of them is sticking slightly before it turns. Anyone any ideas what this might be? I haven't asked at the garage yet, but will next time I take her in.

caliper
Sounds like a sticking caliper. If it were the pads stuck on the disc, then you'd notice as you pull away as it will jolt forward suddenly. Otherwise, it may be a wheel nut loose so it cracks on the thread as it's moved.
I get exactly the same problem. If im reversing/driving forward in the morning and its been slighty damp the night before the brakes seize on and make a harsh snapping sound. Took it to the garage and asked them to check it out but they couldn't do anything. Siad the brake pads might need changing but they still have about another 10k to go on them. Seems to be fine now its a lot dryer in the mornings
Its your rear discs, When it had rained it happened every morning. I left my car still for 3 weeks and when I tried to move it there was an extremely large 'snap' sound and then when I was driving along there was a knocking sound.
I took it to a garage and he took the rear drivers brake caliper off and looked at the pads, there was a bit of rust on the disc that seemed to have 'grown'? while it had been stood for 3 weeks. He just wire brushed the disc down and re-fitted everything and it hasnt happened again since (even when it has rained).
Just have a look to see if there is any rust at all on your discs and wirebrush it off, its worked for my car anyway!

Common with Pads on rear
The snap on pulling forward is often the read pad sticking. The hand brake is on the rear brakes, so when it's applied, it puts a lot of pressure on the rear pads to discs. The discs do build up rust (as all discs do) and this can stop the pads freeing up when the hand brake is released - the pads are effectively rusted to the disc temporarily. If this is the snap to which you refer, there's little you can do about it. The disc surface rust will remove as soon as you first brake anyway. And, new pads do it as well as old ones!
