Custom rear springs??

Post by matt_123 »

Does anyone know where I should try. Ive got AP coilovers and desperately want to get the rear lower need another 15 - 20mm and after some investigation custom springs is the way to go to get more lows. question is would AP directly create some or would i need to find a custom spring maker?? some people have said FK rear springs would fit and make it considerably lower but where could i get hold of just springs?? help

Cheers guys.

Why dont you start with ringing FK and AP?

KW do custom stuff as well but it ent cheap.

if its just for looks you could pay for them to be heated up and squashed, or cut.

wouldnt advise either but it may be your only way without paying serious ££££

Have you tried pulling out the rear adujustment plate or even the whole lower cup assembley? In some people opinions this is a bit dodgey.

I did this on my last car and found that the spring was more secure without the lower cup and adjustment screw. I got some big tie wraps and put 4 on each spring just incase but there was no chance it was going to move. I am thinking about doing this to my GTI as well because it just isnt low enough at the rear on the coilovers.

1stly: Have you removed the rear adjuster seat? If not, there is a good 1nch just there.

You can remove the seat all togeather, but it does seem to make some noise in the OEM seat area. I'm sure you could resolve this with something, but could require a little messing around.

Maybe take a photo for us and some indication on how low you want to go...

did you contact FK direct ?? and i have emailed AP through venom :S as there website is through venom.
and I haven't removed the rear seat adjusters yet as from what people say it doesnt lower it that much more and i didnt really want to just run the springs on there own cable tied in, as i have my MOT coming up and dont want any problems that could make it fail .

justa little picture, of how low id like to go, but preferably wee bit lower, but theres an idea. (me parked on a curb)

More pics of how it sits atm is on my 'miniphotoshoot thread'
