the 1.4 8valve is bad for the gearbox mate, if you reckon that it aint quite rite, get it checked asap, golf vr6 interior goes in the polos pretty easy mate.

Best to have a look round on google or yellow pages for gearbox specialists in your local area, there will be 1 or 2.
Give them a ring tell them the problem, what car you have etc and they will give you a quotation for a refurb.

Sometimes they can be on the pricey side so expect a bill of £400+

As for the exhaust you really can get them from anywhere.
Check out some of the links I sent you previously and select your cars year & model.

Best to get a cat-back system really because it will sound better and might actually free up 1 or 2 bhp.

Yeah wheels will make a massive difference to the look of the car, probably the best thing to buy really then start on other bits & bobs to get it looking clean & tidy. Are you going to get it lowered or stick with the standard suspension?

My project is going good thanks, got a few issues to sort out in the next few weeks but nothing major other than a dodgy CV joint. Saving up money now until next year when I will be getting some Schrick Camshafts from JBS Autodesign in Chesterfield. Nothing major planned at the minute :)

Yeah 35mm is a good drop to be fair, it will look better and will still be practical for day to day driving.
I recommend getting a set of Eibach Pro Kit Springs mate, they state "50mm lowering springs" but in reality you get a 35-40mm drop and you dont sacrife the ride comfort of the car.

They are pretty reasonable price wise too at about £120 for the set.

The standard suspension on Polo's is pretty horrendous to be honest dude so a 40mm drop will look very good, you wont have any issues with speed bumps running that kind of drop, its when you drop it 70, 80 or 90mm when you start getting serious issues. Yah £120 is really reasonable

The link you have posted doesnt work for some reason but having checked the heading they sound spot on.
50mm Lowering Springs for a 6N Polo 94-99(00) will be perfect.
