Engine problems?

just finished swapping a knackered 16v engine with a 'good' one low mileage, but on when starting the engine it fires, sounding like its ready to start then the spark plugs stop sparking?
checked a few other places for this problem but no solid answers
any help would be appreciated, cheers

so the spark plugs are fine??

if the HT leads aint in good nick get new ones or you might need a distibutor( if its plastic their more likely to break than metal ones)

so its starting up fine? but noit runnig? any extra info ill should be able to help ya hopefully mate

yea bud appreciate the help,

sparks seem fine, at first thought it was the fuel system as sparks werent getting wet, just a little low on fuel, so solved tht, it sounds like its about to start then looses the spark completely
distributor looks okay and assuming the plugs are getting a spark means the distributor should be okay? no?

might try swapping with my dads car as hes got a 1.0 as a runabout, would his fit my 16v?

wee thought it might have been the coil pack being faulty, again was thinking of swapping it with my dads if it fits

dad mentioned a possible connection with an immobiliser but wasnt sure on tht

it could be the HT coil thats gone, and the batterys fine? so its ticking over? or just making the odd click noise ?

what size 16v? 1.4 ? they will in a 1.0l a 1.8t can fitin just haha

yea its a 1.4 16v, and yea battery is good, not actually starting just about to tick over and just looses the spark hence not starting, any more ideas i can try will be appreciated, off at weekend so will try swapping coil pack over and hopefully thats all thats wrong

hmmmmm all the ignition leads and the earths connected up right?

you taken it to a garage for a test??

done a power test the other day and hopefulloy solved the problem, the power feed to the injectors are shot, starts okay and hence the power just disappears, so gonna replace with a new wire, need to check loom now

pretty sure the grounds etc are all connected up right anyway
