Sprint topic

Post by Instigator »

we have GTI's for a reason,
it's made to nail any concurent from another brand
tell against what you raced and if you won or loose, standing start or rolling start doesn't mather.
it's about the fun and joy of knowing what a Polo GTI is capable off

i'll start this thing off,

did some races yesterday against some friends.

standing starts from 0-60 + 1/4mile and longer
Peugeot 207 RC - 175Hp = won from it, 3-4 carlenghts
Audi S3 210 +Chip - 240Hp = Won it pretty easy  3-4 carlengts
Ford Mondeo Clipper TDCi - 136Hp = won it verry verry easy by 15 carlengths
Honda Civic Type R EP3 - 235Hp = won it, but in 3th/4th gear he comes back and passes me, i think i can just nail it in 1/4th mile :?: (civic launches verry bad)
Peugeot 106 GTI - 152Hp = Lost it, pretty hard :-D takes 3 cars on me
Audi A3 1.9TDi - 205Hp = won it by 2-3 carlenghts

rolling starts from 2nd - 3th - 4th and 5th gear
Peugeot 207 RC - 175Hp = won it every time by 4 carlenghts and more, only in 5th gear it's neck on neck, but after 4000Rpm polo running out.
Audi S3 210 +Chip - 240Hp = won it and taking distance of 3-4 cars every time 8) :P
Ford Mondeo Clipper TDCi - 136Hp = only did it in 4th gear, lower RPM he takes about 1-1,5m and after 3500 - 4000rpm polo blows it away.
Honda Civic Type R EP3 - 235Hp = won from it in lower rpm's untill 4000Rpm, after that the Honda comes over me verry hard:-p
Peugeot 106 GTI - 152Hp = won from it in lower rpm and also above 4000Rpm, pug takes the lead pretty easy!
Audi A3 1.9TDi - 205Hp = 1st 2nd and 3th is pretty close, lower Rpm i loose, again above 4000 4500Rpm is come closer and pass him.
in 4th and 5th gear i basicly has no chance against it

thx for comment
not much done to the car...
i have full Milltek exhaust non resonated with 200cell sportcat, Seat sport intercooler and a K&N airfilter.
had it on the dyno a while ago and i had 167.7Hp and 254.9nM (this was without the seat IC)
done a Vbox run after i installed the seat IC and i had 175Hp, it should be pretty correct... but i'm not 100% sure of those Vbox numbers.
mapping is on the way, after that i want to nail the Civic type R to

but, for what is done to it, it runs pretty good

How can a 106 GTI beat you easily yet you comfortably beat a 240bhp S3???? makes no sense at all dude

S3 should be wiping the floor with you unless the driver was useless!

i'm not 100% sure of the S3 his power either.
i asked him if he had any problems with his car or he might be knowning his MAF sensor was broke or so...
nothing wrong with the car, so i asked him if he has been on Dyno because he was "saying" he had 240Hp.
he has been on dyno, and my friend with the Civic type R was there when they mapped the car and did dyno runs :|
so i gave him the benifit of doubt.

But, i know a fella from another Forum with a stock Nagaro blue S3 225Hp.
raced him a while ago, so i know how a stock S3 goes!
but i diddn't notice much diffrence between it.
my feeling with that car with 240Hp was he was driving stock...
neverless, the problem with those cars are 1: To heavy 2: to much Hp loss because of his 4WD system.
and a stock S3 is not fast at all for that sort of power...
i believe, even if he does have had 240Hp, it should be pretty close with maybe a advantage of the GTI (not sure of this)
because it's only 15Hp diffrence with a stock 225... don't know if that will be enough of catching up with me :?:
another thing, i must say, if he knew how to launch it might be another story from 0-60, he f****d that up pretty hard
so he is not the best driver, true.
but from rolling starts... you can't do anything wrong with that, can you

PS: don't underestimate the 106 GTI...
it does not sound like much but 152Hp in that thing is sick!
under 4000Rpm there is absolutely nothing at all, but above that it's another world.
he is also a good friend, i'll make a video of us this weekend or so.
but it's not that he pulls 50cars on me, but on 1/4mile.. i guess 4 - 5 cars
so in my eyes, he beats me pretty easy

at last: maybe you guys should see some video's of me driving...
i've beaten much "faster" cars with my 175Hp polo you would not believe

I had a saxo VTS for my previous car running 180BHP (same engine as 106gti)

Forged internals, stripped, bodies, different ratio gearbox and in little sprints like that it was stupid

weighed around 850kg's but they can be made lighter with polycarbwindows/carbon fibre pannel replacment etc

unfortunatly mine was so unreliable and it rusted away in front of my eyes

awesome car in its time tho!

it's hard to get more than 150Hp out of it. pretty exspensive tho.
but 180Hp is such a car is pretty sick, you must have a pretty fast mapped polo to stay in front of that

As much as I dislike Saxo's they are very quick and are often underated (VTS Only)
Its all about power to weight ratio with them, a stripped VTS Saxo or 106 GTI running 150-160bhp can upset a whole host of cars. Dont get me wrong they are Tuna Can death traps but in terms of speed they are seriously quick.

French cars are literally turd mobiles and go wrong more often than not

I agree with everything you said, but mine was unspoilt with only performance modifications that are nicely hidden away.

and yes it did upset alot of more expensive/powerful cars.

and It broke roughly every 2 or 3 months for whatever reason. but its a toy and can be fixed on your own usually in a day for next to nothing. great learning car

Yeah are quite good looking little cars when kept standard to be honest, they seem to be the last generation of lightweight super minis, hatchbacks these days are getting bigger & bigger and heavier & heavier.

The chav boy racers lads give them a bad name and it has tarnished the cars reputation, I would probably opt for the better looking 106 GTI given the choice but I do have alot of respect for them.
Some crazy video's on youtube of turbocharged VTS Saxo's and they are scary fast.

Cheers Chris :)
Some mental machines on there! gives me inspiration to mod my GTI more but in the long run it would be cheaper to get a 9N3 GTI instead lol
