air con leak - anyone else had this?

Having had my air con topped up in the warm weather in july it suddenly stopped being quite so icey cold about a month ago.

The guy at the air con place checked and its lost 3/4 of what the coolant was filled to, so he says there must be a leak somewhere. I may be dreaming it but i was briefly aware of a slightly 'gassy' sound coming from the vents around that time.

Has anyone else experienced an air con leak and are there any common places for this to happen, just to save me going over the whole thing with a fine tooth comb?

I'd expect that the A/C condensor is the place that could get damaged from flying stones etc, so look there for traces of oil - where there is a leak then some system oil will also have escaped.Other than that, check over any pipe work and joins in the pipes, again for traces of oil, if something has not been put back correctly it might be rubbing on a pipe for instance. I'd ignore the gassy noises coming from the vents as being an area to check for leaks - at least for now!

ive had exactly the same mate, bought car in march aircn working usd aircon in june didnt work so got it re gased and by end of june the aircon didnt work again !
