GTI HID's fitted

Post by Gtimatt »

seems i done this at the right time as a few threads have cropped up about hids. i'll try my best to put a desciption of how i made it work at the bottom.

they are 35w, slim ballast H7R bulbs - 6000k

ok, so instead of fitting them by drilling a hole in the back of the rubber seal ( seeing as it had been cut previously) i cut apart the old metal bulb holders and put the wires inside the metal 'frame' and therefore the bulb too i then fitted the bulb and pushed the metal holder back into its place ( fairly difficult as it had slightly distorted from me cutting it) and then screwed that back down and cut a larger hole in the rubber seal for all the new wires

Yeah man, cut a hole in rubber, fed wires through and jammed shut

I thought about modifying the metal clips, but I didn't think it would work, might have another go and make em fit

Bulbs atm are only held in by the rubber pushing aganst them + the wires, seems a bit dodgy ;/

What's the beam pattern lines like, are they as crisp as the stock halogens or not, does the light fall smooth as it does with the stock bulbs or is it more scattered

pattern is fine, doesnt seem scattered at all. i will try and take some better pics from inside the car to show how they are, the only time they look ''scattered'' is when there is water(rain) on the headlight it makes it look like lines in the light. but im sure thats just because its brighter you now notice it

Would there be a way of disconnecting the ''angel eye''

I like the concept of the projectors but not the ''angel eyes'' they look chavtastic imo

Yeah they come with the "sidelights" not wired up, you wire whichever you want up yourself

There are 3 to choose from on the ones I got, LED's in left hand side, just above the left angel, the angel eyes themselves and the strip above both angels - or a combination of each

im going to be fitting 8000k H7R on mine soon, seen a kit on ebay for 54.99 + 4.99 postage

i took the angels lights off as i got really fed up with them as the angel lights werent that bright and to change the bulbs would be a strip down and then hunting for the bulbs, so back to standard lights.
