Re: de-locking boot!
The boot release mechanism on cars with the delocked handle is different to the one on cars with the normal handle fitted. It's a bit difficult to explain but basically the back of the lock barrel is a key part of the mechanism. When you pull the handle, you activate a microswitch which causes a solenoid (?) to extend an arm which pushes on a lever on the back of the lock barrel, which in turn pulls on a connecting rod which affects the lock mechanism. It's pretty self explanatory if you look at the mechanism.
Clearly, the delocked handle doesn't have a lock barrel, so the mechanism is different. Additionally, the delocked handle has a slightly different design, so the lock barrel cannot be fitted behind the new handle. The options are to either grind down the lock barrel so that it fits properly, or to refit the new mechanism. The advantage to refitting the new mechanism is that you can refit the old handle at any time. The parts are pretty much a direct replacement, only thing is that there is a wiring plug to the microswitch that is different on the new mechanism. The original has three wires, the delocked has two wires. You need to lose the wire in pin 3.
I've been meaning to write a proper guide for this, but I completely forgot about it
Photobucket's being a complete pain at the moment, so I'll try to post it up in the next few days. In the meantime, if you need a hand feel free to send me a PM or something.
