steering rack.. hard to change?

Is it hard.. Or does engine have to come out really to do it

Its difficult access, but can probably be done without dropping the block out.

just been advised that it could be the problem with my cars tracking never staying straight (it was done about month half ago) then it it went wobbly and one side was well out ... and it has no gaiters on either end as one ripped and i never noticed till i had to cut the other one off to change a tie rod in the intention of replacing it quickly but unforseen circumstances changed that..

i am debating just selling the car sayin that it needs changing and finnaly move onto something bigger as i am pig sick of my car now
