Hesitation at higher speed / revs

Post by pvr »

I had a search and only saw threads on the GTI forum where camshaft sensors were blamed. On the 1.4 8v, would that be the same cause when accelerating a bit harder and reaching higher revs that the engine hesitates?

This is each time when putting your foot down.

They have a different sensor set to the GTI mate - I would recommend getting it scanned with vagcom as that should shed some light on the faulty sensor

as alex said have it scanned... mine sort of did the same, used vagcom and it turned out to be a worn out HT lead

Ok, sound advice.

The HT lead sounds like an option as I had to move them out of the way when I serviced the car a couple of weeks back to get to the air filters.

Will one of those cheap ebay VAG COM be sufficient? (i.e. £9).

yeah then have it scanned with vagcom...it will tell you exactly which cylinder is misfiring so you don't need so buy all the leads ;)

You wonder why you service the car sometimes :) It was ok before I provided TLC a few weeks back and treated to all new filters and oil ...

Got gradually worse, so a lead sounds like the most likely guilty party.

that's why I prefer doing every possible service on the car myself hehe ... I know exactly what it goes through ad I take good care :) unlike what I suspect service garages do!

Well, bought the VAG COM, plugged it in, ran the software - get an error "this car is not OBDII compliant"

Great ...

Hmm very interesting indeed. Can you get a screenshot of this?

Try installing the 409.1 vagcom. Just uploaded it here for you
