Polo GTi's and remaps - want 200bhp
Hi all,
I bought my GTi about a month ago and im keen to get it mapped once ive sold my other car,
Basicaly i want a gaurentied 200bhp, Initialy i was hoping to get this with a decent filter, tip pipe forge dump valve and stage one remaps, but looking at it most people dont seam to make 200bhp with just a stage one,
so to get 200bhp it looks like il be needing a stg 2, for this most people say you need a full turbo back system which is about £750 with a sports cat or £600 with a de-cat. i also quiet fancy a front mount intercooler but thats another £500 again.
Basically is it worth getting a full system and/or a front mount incooler for a stg 2 or can i make 200bhp without this pricey bits?
Cheers

you could get a 2.5" downpipe de-cat instead of a full system

I'd say uprated DV, uprated panel filter/induction kit, Forge TIP and a turbo-back exhaust system plus a Stage 1 map would see see you 190-200bhp

You don't need FMIC to get to that power. FMIC may net you around 5-8hp, but main aim is to keep the car cool to produce the same performance again and again - which may be beneficial if your area can be very hot during summer.
Go with down pipe 3" (no need to go all the way back, unless you like to get nice noise..), REVO Stage 1, Forge DV 007, Seat PD160 intake.
That should give you very nice performance for your budget. You can add more later.

thing is though i only want to do it once, i dont want to do stage 1 and then in 6months want a stage 2 because its money down the pan,
To be honest im not to worried about spending the money if its worthwhile, but i dont want to waste money on stuff thats not really going to make any difference.

all you need is a good custom mapping.
with only remap, it must be able to reach 200Hp easy, i've seen 210Hp and 300-340nM happen regulary.
if you take the route of going with,
-Forge TIP
-Forge TB intake pipe
-Forge DV 007
-Milltek (full system)
-airfilter
-intercooler (i recommend the seat sport IC)
-custom mapping
it will cost you a bit but i think it's worth the effort if you do want power.
this set up is good for reaching +-230Hp and 350-390nM (some get less, some get even more)
mind you that you don't stare yourself blind on the "magic 200Hp"
if you get it mapped by a local "tunerboy" and reach 200Hp, it won't mean anything.
another good mapping from Revo or so with less Hp (maybe 180-190 or so) can be a faster set up because it's tuned better.
and thats what is important, the way it is tuned and how the dynocurve goes, numbers are least important

if you are going down with REVO tune, then it's 50 pound extra upgrade, and you are not doing things twice doubling up the cost.
All the things I have mentioned is adding towards stage 2. You will not be doing same thing twice.
