is there a way to know if this needs changing or maybe a change it after specific amount of miles?

vagcom will let you know, also i heard they should last roughly 60k miles

not actually when they are totally gone but not quite working well.

so mine is quite far from a change then as I have just covered 42k miles...

just thought it might need a change cos of the somewhat bad mpg I am getting... :/

yep i have bad mpg too, vagcom told me i had a faulty front lambda, changed it and still getting bad mpg, havent got a clue what it is.

with a lambda i heard it either works or it doesnt so you would only need to change it once it becomes faulty. :)

i bet i get the worst mpg 20 quid will last me about 4-5 days, i work 8 miles from my house go to the gym wich is 3-4 miles from my house and thats it really and after 4-5 days of that its time to top up again
