LED Board - New Problem!!

Post by 5509433 »

Hi,

I have come across a major issue with my new LED boards made by Tegwin.

When I press my brake and put my indicator on, the lights alternate.

As the turn signal turns on, the brake light turns off.. When the turn signal turns off, the brake light come back on!

Has any one else come across this problem!?

Need to get it sorted asap.

Thanks.

Problem corrected.

There are 2 BL connections on the bulb holders.
You need to use the very bottom BL connector for the earth.

If only Tegwins instructions were right in the first place i would have shredded my car wiring lol.

Oh well, we all learn from mistakes so I guess it has been a learning experience! Just hope nothing else goes wrong with them..
Although..my girlfriend was driving behind me yesterday night and noticed that when my lights are on, the 3rd brake light is illuminated ever so slightly. Causing her to think that i am braking..
I have no idea if that was like that before I installed the boards or if the problem has only just occurred.

Any info or help will be much appreciated!

Thanks.

Thats an earth leak again - it must be getting a voltage supplied to it somehow. Its tagged off the passenger side rear light

Thanks.

Where about's is the connection for the 3rd light on the passenger side?

And even once i do find the connection, how is this solvable. (Not so good with car electrics as you may have noticed!)

Could my new LED boards have caused the leak?

Thanks for your help!

Hard to say - its possible due to the fact the brake and sidelights are connected into the board, but the boards have diodes to stop power going to the brakes when the sidelights are on. Try disconnect and see whats happening.

The connection is tagged into the back of the bulb holder I think - look for a wire that splits into two.

Ok ill check it out when i come home from work.

Would it be an MOT fail if my top brake light is slightly on? Not really noticeable in day light. Ill check it out for my self tonight.

Highly unlikely. If in doubt, just unplug the lead that makes the led boards light when the brakes arepressed

Hi,

The problem is the yellow wires.

When I disconnect either the right light or left light wire the light will go off.

Any ideas on what can be done?

It seems like the yellow wires are creating some kind of circuit.
Thanks.

I forgot to mention, the 3rd Brake light is only on (as a dim light) when the sidelights are turned on, and the engine turned on also.

If i turn my sidelights on with out the engine running, it is not lit.

Very irritating as I don't want to be pulled over!

Note that the top light is no where near as bright as the picture looks..
