Gti or Cooper S JCW???

no no no i defo wont be buying a brand new one lol!!! id be looking at an 05 i think dont think id be keen for the turbo mini otherwise id just get a gti im not going to buy a works its would be a cooper s and tune that to 245 as its not that hard...

Cooper S's are common as muck.

Also alot of mums and middle age men own them as run around cars. which makes them a boring persons car.

be young and buy a gti, purpouseful, sought after, not many on the roads, and not a mums shopping trolley

I test drove a Cooper S (supercharged one) before I got my GTI and the whine from the s'charger is addictive, but the sound of the turbo on a tuned GTI can be quite nice too

Also, I didn't think the S felt that fast, slightly faster than a GTI but as soon as a GTI is remapped it will shaft the S...

The handling as standard on mini, S or not, is far better than a standard GTI.

I'd buy a GTI again if I had the choice.

about the Cooper S stock vs Polo GTi stock...

i drove against the old "new" mini with supercharger 160Hp.
trashed him...
i mean, on 1/4th mile i got lik 5 carlenghts or so on him

i also drove against the new mini with the 1.6T engine with 175Hp.
this one is a bit faster, was close to the GTI, but i still one the 1/4th mile with 0.5 carlenghts.

but i do think a JCW is faster as a GTi

mind you that it also comes down to the driver...

I like it Hopefully mine will end up like this eventually that is.

Had a run in with a s**t looking mkiv golf with a GTI badge at the rear . At the light comes up beside me reving his car
and then when I let go off my clutch he gets a shock but then smart ass cuts across traffic while joing the carriageway and gets infront of me
as I was still behind a car and as before I can come onto his lane the fella just boosts past me which in turn gave me a sick gutt feeling that
he was probably running a bigger size turbo

Then he takes it easy for a while and we approach a traffic light and in mind I am like come on lets get it on like a child and guess what lights change green
and the boy pull away even more than the GTI which confirmed it that the golf had a bigger map and probably mapped more

But it got more evident with me trying to catch him that the standard ecu map on the car is totally crap and the boost is not there when you need it.

I am off to the tunners ready in time for the come back
