Reostat for 9N Dash Lights

Just had our new 1.2 (65) delivered and noticed that you can't dim the dash lights. You could do this on our previous 1.2 and just assumed it would still be a feature. The Dealer says it's no longer an option

and they can't do any mods to change it - which I find hard to believe.

Anybody got any ideas as to how to do it? I know I can get the necessary switch (joint reostat and headlight level adjuster) but not sure about the wiring, etc. Any help would be appreciated. TVM

i can dim my dashlights on my 2004 polo. maybe it's a model year issue?

It must just be a change in specification. We had a 03 9N Polo which did have a reostat fitted. There must be some way of retro fitting one using the proper VW switch, I'm just not sure how to do the wiring,etc.
