by any chance does anyone have the VW part number and il order another one (at my friends expense), or even know if they can be bought seperate or how much they are as the lead and adapter as a whole cost me 120 quid.

Im afraid its the whole kit as one mate - the cables arent available seperately, apart from the loom side as there are two versions.

Try ebay

crap ! couldnt find one on ebay, and if i get a cheaper one i risk loosing sound quality, feel a bit bad making my friend pay for one cause he has a new house and a kid on the way soon but i suppose thats what is going to have to be.

i find it strange they dont come seperataly at all though :?

I know, but thats just VW for you - its a bundle at the end of the day. Normally, you wouldnt need to get the lead on its own

What part is damaged?

no mate i think a cheaper one would result in a loss of quality although there mp3's and its hard to loose quality you would be supprised at what some cheap cables sound like.

try the dension ones i think there cheaper and do the same job i.e. plug straight into an original vw head unit.

and to alex, its the white part that plugs straight into the ipod/iphone.
