Induction Kit Fitting

Post by marmalade_man »

I've got a 1.2 60bhp 3 cylinder engine which is pitiful, but i need to replace my air filter, and thought why not go the whole way and get an induction kit. I've got a box ive removed to check the air filter, but I'm unsure how i would install a universal air filter with a cold air feed. Would i need anything to adapt and change my car for the air filter to fit?

I was looking at that one, any help would be appreciated guys!

Sorry, i'm 17, know nothing about cars. I've seen pictures of people putting them where the air filter was? or am i imagining something? Apparently they make the engine sound louder?

lol no worries

Yes they look similar, but that little filter you found is no bigger than a tea cup lol

Certain filters can create a deeper sound such as a BMC CDA or a similar cone filter. Try looking into K+N panel filters as this is a straight swap for what your car currently has fitted.

In any case on the 1.2 60bhp, an air filter will make very little, if any difference and will probably cause your economy to drop :(

yes.

first one requires removing the old airbox and will be louder

second provides better airflow and is just a swap of the paper filter currently fitted

Hey marmalade_man,

I stuck a BMC Panel filter in mine, fancied something rather than using K&N or Green. To me when you've changed the paper element to a cotton gauze one like the BMC it does make a mild difference but not very noticeable to the ears. Better airflow and filtration means better economy and increased acceleration but by a small fraction.

Where did you get yours from? anddd with the full kit will i be noticing alot louder sound? Is the pollen filter linked into the whole setup too, because i dont want a difficult DIY job if im going to order the complete kit and a cold air feed.
