Filters for GTi whats the best performance?

Post by insamoufonyx »

Helllo!

wondering what the best performance setup would be for my 06 GTi,
my cars booked in for a re-map at P-Tourque on the 11th feb and i want to get the best out of it i posibly can.

Basicaly at the moment ive got a standard airbox but ive drilled the lower half to increase the airflow.

Now my question is, what should give greater performance, my drilled airbox with a performance pannel filter - if so, which filter do people recomend?
ORRR, will a cone filter be better performance - if so what cone filter would you recomend?

Cheers

Spoke to P-Torque who will be doing my remap, they strongly recommended keeping the standard air box and putting a uprated filter in it.

there reason for this is apparently the inlet temps go through the roof with a open cone.

K&N are not bad, however How much did you pay for your K&N cone? I payed £50 for a jetex. I had a K&N before that and payed over double that and their much the same

my jetex 1 was also a bit bigger and the end is rubber instead of metal chinking off the paintwork at the topmounts

I have the same Jetex filter as you mate. Sounds pritty sweet.

Just a quick question though, what have you guys done with the breather pipe that was originally connected to the top of the standard air box? Have you connected a small filter on the end or just left it open?

Turbo cars create their own atmosphere, hence the reason for an intercooler (Or at least thats what I have always thought?)

So they don't really mind warm air from the engine bay - maybe the intercooler is forced to work a little harder, but I have had no problems with my K&N :)

The K&N i57 kit comes with a small filter for the breather pipe so I have that on mine
