Polo GTI Fusebox Query

Post by POLOZ »

hello guys,

Have a query about the fusebox in my GTI and somehow I think I might be missing a fuse?!?!
The image posted below shows which one in question:

Basically from the very start when i bought the car, it was empty but there is a 12V connector in the slot which I use for my ignition live to
power me aftermarket radio.

But i think, dealers might have removed a fuse to hide a fault etc, I was wondering if the GTI owners could check if this is the case and tell me whether it
should have a fuse etc Also I never got a fuse card so cant tell what is suppose to be there?

Thanks

There's a fuse diagram in the Tips and Maintenance section of the manual, around p90 I think?

Just had a quick look in Haynes for you, looks like it is fuse 17 (5A-engine management). However, there's a few other fuses labelled as engine management as well... so maybe not a GTI required one? My old 1.4 had a few empty slots with 12V connectors in, and a few with fuses for options I didn't even have (heated seats for one), so it might just me a generic thing.

I'll take a look at mine later and update this if no-one else can help.

Hi mate, just took a quick look at mine and I have the same fuse missing:

The book says the same as what blazeguarder found in the Haynes manual, Engine Management. So I have no idea what its for or why its not there either

Hope this rests your mind a bit :)

Phew......Cheers 'BennoGTi' Appreciate the picture.....

I always had a doubt in my mind as to why this particular slot was empty with a connector still in it.
Dunno whether to stick a mini-blade fuse in it and check what it does? But skeptic about doing this

Right, just had a look, mine doesn't have it either. Wouldn't worry about it tbh, probably cheaper to fit a connector into the fusebox at the factory than to not, or I'm sure there's some other equally daft reason...

Yep, just picked it up two weeks ago! Had a 9N3 1.4 before. GTi's in a different league lol.
