Elec. Windows problem

Post by ryanryan »

Left hand side goes only up even when pressing down on the switch and right hand side goes only down even when pressing up on the switch!

I swapped both switches and its still the same. I removed both motors and they both turn clockwise only. Help me solve this problem please.

Hmm, sorry I have miss read the question.

That is very odd. I personally cannot help, but it is obviously an electrical fault.

Hopefully someone on here can here you. It is possible that the switch is faulty.. but being that you have tried 2 switches, its hard to believe that both are broken..

Not that the window motors are connected to. Each window motor has its own control module built in.

Check your fuses

Unfortunately not. These cars are before the time when everything is connected like on the newer cars with CANBUS management

Problem Solved.... just in-case anyone maybe has a similar problem.. it turns out to be the body ecu or convenience unit or whatever its called. My friend has a spare one from his golf and they work on the polo too... we swapped them and both windows work fine now.

Now all I need is a left side window winder because since the windows was only going up the cable snapped. does anyone have a second hand one for sale? because i went to the VW dealer over here and almost had a heart attack when he told me the price for a new one and how long I have to wait for him to get one!

btw my car is a polo classic (saloon) 6n2 so the winders repair kits that exist for the 6n are not compatable
