Hi,
I have a really annoying issue with my windscreen. Most mornings I have to clean the inside of the glass to be able to see out of it.
Also in the winter when it is frosty, I have to scrape the frost off the inside, putting ice all in my car!
I have a few chips and a small crack in the top left corner that is not visible from the inside of the car.
Would a replacement windscreen solve this or is the damp comming from else where do you recon?
Thanks
Lewis

Re: Annoying windscreen problem
I have a similar problem Lewis and its due to the Windscreen seals.
Mine steams up for fun and can take ages to clear some mornings which is really annoying.
You will find that the problem only occurs this time of the year because of the cold air so it wont be a problem in the summer. Your best bet is ringing someone like Autoglass to find out which window is causing it (most likely the front) and get them to replace the seal.
Mine needs a new rear & front seal
Hope this helps mate

How can you tell if the seals need replacing?
Both front and rear seals look very grotty. Maybe thats the case.
I could call them and see what they would charge. If I purchased the rear window seal and got them to install it?
I recon I need a new front screen, its not completely damaged though. Would the insurance still cover it do you recon?

Re: Annoying windscreen problem
If the seals havent been replaced before then there is a good chance they will need doing. If you need a new front window anyway then thats a bonus really because the seals would be changed too.
My seals have perished over time, the back window seal is loose and there is a slight build up of mould/moss just below the glass & seal so its something I need to get changed.
If the window seals are on the way out you will get air/moisture getting into the car causing it to steam/freeze up on cold mornings, the seats may feel damp too. Its a nightmare at time because when the window does clear you get streams of water dripping on to the dashboard
Yeah I'm sure if you purchased the seal it wouldnt make any difference, they would just charge you for removing/refitting the glass which shouldnt be too much. I dont think your insurance would cover you for a new windscreen unless somebody had physically damaged your window, depends what company your with though some do offer windscreen protection policys.

Hmm, well I do have a crack to show.. just not a big one. Ill try and get a picture up tommorow.
I have emailed Autoglass, and they are happy to do the work. I may call and get a price soon.
Im also looking at replacing my sunroof seal. I know you can purchase the seals on veedubmachine and eBay but Im not sure of how much of a challenge it will be to fit..?
Thanks for your help!
