1.9tdi lowering

Post by lm_gauci »

Right, i've dropped my wheels off today to get refurbed and i was looking at dropping the car a touch with the new wheels on. I've read somewhere about problems when lowering the car too much with the driveshafts knocking.

How much is a safe distance to lower the car...?

WIll be running 16" bbs montreals so nothing too big.

You can lower it as much as you like matey. But there will come a point like you said, where your anit-roll bar starts knockin on your drive shaft. Best thing to do is pop down to your local motorstore, and pick up 2 drop links from a ford mondeo (2003). They do 2 types, a plastic and a metal one. I got to metal ones for like £20. Fit them, and problem solved. So you can go as low as your springs / coilys will allow. I dropped my 1.9TDI by about 100mm, and i had 16" alloys on.
