TDI 6n2 Fuel Gauge Probs Earth/Sender

right today i removed the fuel pump and sender and gave it a good cleaning up. this is the sender board that needs cleaning with petrol and cotton buds. and it was very dirty... forgot to take before photo. you can remove this board by sliding it out from the main unit. be very careful i used iphone plastic disassembly tools to do this delicately.




for the first time my gauge is actually showing i rather accurate reading from what i thought. bearing in mind it was showing just over half a tank before i cleaned the sender board.



i will keep track of this as VW said today i need a new sender/pump £365.19 inc VAT not fitted!!! but i will find one elsewhere on bay etc. but hopefully this has cured the problem. time will tell i guess. but worth a shot!
