Mr Blobby's Progress Thread

Post by Mr Blobby »

First things first my name is Alistair, I am 18 and I am a student studying Engineering.
I've had the Gti for about 8 months now and LOVE it! I do have lots of plans for it but obviously money is a bit of a issue...

Not really sure what to say about it so i'll just say whats been done and what my plans are :)

Been done:
Pipercross Induction kit
De-badged honeycombe grille
Scorpion Twin Tailpipe Exhaust
Engine Start Button
Home made rear upper strut brace
PG Tips monkey, VERY important and strangley amusing? :S
And thats it for the moment :(

Plans:
Yellow Speed Racing Coilovers (Been ordered and should come next week!)
AutoBra Badgless Bonnet Bra (Been ordered and should come next week!)
Custom hidden exhaust (Getting a few quotes this weekend and maybe get it done next month when I get the money)
Wheel Spacers
Recondition wheels and paint them gloss black as winter wheels
Borbet A's :D for summer wheels
Carbon wrap the roof and spoiler
Carbon wrap/Paint red the air vents and heater channel on the dash board
Smooth the whole car ((Including boot) Depending on if I am going to be keeping the car for a few years and the cost.....)
Fill in the little recess in the bonnet
Black angel eyes and upgrade to xeon full beam
Front upper OMP strut brace
Anything else that comes into my brain..... :)

I went on a little photoshoot with my car last weekend so here is my car and some photos I like :)

Let me know what you think and any ideas/tips for anything please! Its always so so so useful!

Little bit photo happy so there are quite a few of them...

So thats why I am getting a hidden one as I want to go low on my coilovers :)

Annnnnnnd at the weekend I baought and installed new rear breaks and pads and whilst I was doing that my dad thought he'd check the front ones and by accident but the pad the wrong way round XD this is the outcome......

Haha it's a good saying :) but I think 3 doors look better :)

Thankssss :) How come alot of people don't like the badgeless grille? Because it's still honeycomb... Just without the badge. And the little hole that is left in the bonnet Is going to be covered up by a bonnet bra soon, so I can't see the problem?

Ha ha cheers ben, Although would help if i had back seats

I'm not a big fan of it either to be fair mate. Just does not match the quality of the standard one. Looks a bit on the thin side. Plus i like the VW badge, breaks the front of the car up a bit.

Each to their own though. You do what you think looks best 8)

Very much agree with what Matt said reference the Grille, just looks a little cheap and VW badge on the Grille makes a world of difference. Badgeless front Grills work well on the MK3 and 6N Polo's but on the 6N2 it makes it look too "Corsa...ish" for my liking lol

Its all personal taste though and if you like it then thats all that matters.

Your plans sound awesome, the only thing I dont like the sound of is Black Angel eyes?
Tbh your already onto a winner with the standard Xenon units so why change them for a poorer quality unit?

I can see what you mean, atm it looks cheap but I think thats only because ive just started modding, so when i get into it a bit more a get rid of that HORRIBLE recess in the bonnet it'll look miles better :D

Ahh cheers for that, I didnt know it was a worse quality kit :/ Are there any kits I can get that are the same standard, have a different pattern and are tinted? Im going to create a red and black car theme... thats why i want it tinted :)

Im guessing now youve fitted the start button, you used an immobiliser bypass kit?

Agreed with Ben...no point getting rid of the factory xenons to black angel eyes. Light output and beam quality is shocking by comparison, plus the bulbs wont transfer either

Not too keen on that starter button, would look a lot better if it was flush

I just used a relay to bypass it i think, nothing special :)
I wont be getting angel eyes then :) I dont really know much about tinting, so will just spray tinting my headlights make and difference to the brightness? I really want them tinted somehow...
neilGTI wrote:Not too keen on that starter button, would look a lot better if it was flush
I want it to be flush too, but the button hits on stuff behind the dash so thats the best i could do and there wasnt anywhere else that had a flat surface to put it in :( All things considered though i think its not bad at all :)
