New member, new polo :D

Post by craig200588 »

Hey guys!

Just joined the board, been stalking ever since I found out im getting a new polo! Should be picking it up tomorrow!! Dead excited :D

Its the standard SE model, 3 door, 1.2 60, flash red. It was the ONLY 3 door they had left in stalk so took it, am getting a good deal on my trade in car. Last car was a ..... now dont laugh .... a 04 plate Smart Fortwo Pulse! Cracking wee car, gonna be so sad to see him go :,(

Quick question, as you's know the SE model doesnt come with fog lights, my partners mum got a moda the other week in white and the fog lights look sweet on it! So I'm wanting a pair too :D Can the dealer add fog lights AFTER I've bought the car??? if so, do you's know roughly how much and is it a hard job to do??

Cheers for your time guys :D

Welcome to the forum and good luck with the pick up. Sorry dont know what is involved with the fitting of fog's but at a guess there would need to be some wiring and a change to the front bumper for the fogs to mount in. Suggest you speak to the dealer about it when you pick it up they should hopefully be able to give you a price. :D

does the front bumper have precut holes to fit them into? (will have black plastic with outline where they should go) if not sounds like it will need a new bumper. and does the light switch have the fog light symbol on it? (u should be able to pull the switch towards you when you have either the sidelights and main lights on) if not that will need changing and prob extra wiring to do. dealer might be pricey but def worth asking cose they should do it!

According to ETKA, it seems that low spec models have a blank grill in place of the fog lights, where as higher spec models have a fog light frame instead. It looks like the bumpers can be easily modified to accept fog lamps, but cost is another question.

At the very least you will need.

2 off Fog light frames (to replace your grills)

2 off Fog lights (with / without driving lights / cornering lights). these look to be about the £65-£80 mark each.

New headlight switch.

Not sure if the dealers do a retro fitting kit which might be cheaper.

Been told by dealer that I have to wait till wednesday to pick my polo up!! Im so impatient haha

I asked today about the fog lights, he said it could be done (while screwing up his face) but said I was looking at about £400 + to get it done

think I'll stick with the set up I'm getting :P

Thanks guys tho for your responses!!

To give you an idea, someone here locally paid $550 alone for the wiring to do this and fitted the lights himself. Expect a stealer to make you pay through the nose....

Just picked up my new Polo yesterday!!

its by far the best car I've ever driven, the handling is amazing, the comfort is fantastic and its fairly nippy for the standard 1.2

Its a HUGE difference coming from my last car lol see below!

Is that the Standard Polo S 1.2, or is it SE?

its the SE, my partners mum got the Moda, abit pee'd off at the fact the Moda and SE are priced the same and the Moda has Fog lights, MIDI thing and back tinted windows and all we get in the SE is A/C.

But I prefer the alloys on the SE than the Moda

Just having a bit of fun. I had a couple of mates who owned Smart Brabus four two soft top and a roadster a few years ago and these were a lot of fun for such small engines had flappy paddle gearbox's too also with 3 cylinders and sporty exhausts sounded like half a 911

Flappy paddles are the best that's why DSG is so much fun, drive mine 99% of the time with paddles and only auto mode in stop start traffic :D
