Brighter headlights

Post by roop27 »

Hi again,

Just wondering what I need to have VERY bright headlights and sidelights. I have stock headlights on my 2006 1.2E but want to make them brighter. What parts would I need. I'm looking into getting some fogs so bulbs for them would be good too!

Thanks again

mtec bulbs are a bright white. if thats what you're looking for. but ive heard good things from ring automotive xenon max i believe they're called. 100% brighter or something. only other option is to get HID's

thanks mate, i assume i would find the bulb types/sizes in the user manual?

im just starting off with modding my first car, so im just going to start off with bulbs, and move on to HIDs once i've got some alloys and coilies

Yeah they are h7 for dipped and h1 for main beam mate! mtec are the bulbs if you want some quality ones ive recently gone the HID route and will never go back to normal bulbs myself.

thanks matt,
are HIDs easy to install? i've got a mk7 1.2. what would i need to install them/parts? ive got the stock headlights in at the moment!

i'd prefer a more white, with a slight blue tinge (im guessing 6000k?)

yeah mte there easy as pie to install. just make sure you get slim ballasts as i found there isnt much room in the engine bay of polos might be different in 1.2. but you can fit them with stock headlights, just would need to cut a small hole in the rubber back housing to feed the wire through to the bulb. and yeah 6000k look in my thread of 'ffew snaps tonight' ive got 8000k see what you think for colour lol camera makes it look more blue than it is.

sweet, recommend a brand to buy? yeah yours looks pretty sweet, my polos silver so ill probably go for a more whiteish colour. what you reckon the total cost would be for HIDs?

ones that i got. h7r bulb, 6000k
any difference between h7r and h7? ill probably buy this one then. where did you mount your ballast? would you recommend just doing the dipped beam or dipped/sides? im also going to get some fog lights, but will probably leave those as standard halogens, just need to figure out how to install the fogs :D

well h7r has an anti glare film on it because the polo's headlight is a reflector not a projector your supposed to have h7r bulbs so you dont blind anyone. dipped beam is more than enough IMO. and mounting is fine, i can post pics up of where mine are if u like?

photo would be awesome! my engine is only a s**t 3 cylinder so i have LOADS of room to mount it. i'm pretty sure i could fit a small child in the engine bay (not that i would :P) ill probably order my HID this week then. will flip a few coins on whether to get 8000k or 6000k...cars silver so i think a whiter finish is better:S you opinion?
