Automatic hatch? Anyone?

Post by Joz »

So, I saw these cool hatch-openers that made the hatch pop open when you pressed the unlock button on your remote.
However, I could only find them for the Golf. Does anyone know if you can get the for the Polo??

Here they are:

Some also claim it's needed to do a VAG-com programming.. Don't know if that is the case for all the kits though. I guess it's because you need the car to "open" the hatch, not just unlock.

Anyways, looks awesome!

Vag-com aside, I don't really see why this wouldn't work. It uses Fabia gas struts, which is a car based on the Polo, so it's not like it's going to not be able to take the weight of the tailgate or over-open it or anything... Then it's just the Scirocco springs that force it open till the struts can take over.

Might be worth a trip to the dealers to see how much those parts are direct, as that supplier has probably put a mark up on them... $110 is a bit steep for an auto-opening boot lid!

i reckon if you can get some of the scirroco bump stops with the 'spring effect' type doodah it should work

it doesnt need vag-com cos we've already got the boot pop on our polos! winner!

Sweeet^^

Would be awesome. The car looks way more expensive then imo, hehe.

So it just might work by buying those I linked to? :)

Do you guys have the boot pop already activated? Mine just unlocks the boot when I press the button, still need to pull on the handle to open it...

Hmmm, looks like we need someone with vag-com to read this and check if it's possible to recode the boot latch so that it opens instead of just unlocks...

*waits patiently*

I'm 90% sure it will work, but I got no tools to check.

As long as you have the 3 button fob, you don't need to code it. It's just struts with a bit more tension / force. Just beware of any objects in the vicinity of the hatch before you pop it.

I've seen it done using OEM parts (possibly a strut from a Fabia), but didn't look into it further.

I'll get back on the case!
