Hi mate

You can just order rear door handles and fit them. No modding needed.

5 minute job, max!

isnt it just the lock part where you would put the key in of the handle you buy, the blank bit on the rear door handle,

The handles aren't two piece like the Mk4 Golf has, so you don't have much choice.

Pull one out and have a look, you'll see what I mean.

Nah you need the whole rear door handle, I'm sure theres a thread on this somewhere in the forum...

5 minute job though?! Cool, sounds like even I could do that. And protect against thieving pikeys at the same time! How exactly do you remove the old ones and fit the new ones though?

You can just ask for a Mk4/5 rear door handle, left and right are identical. AFAIK even Caddy or Sharan handles will fit.

You remove the old one by opening the door, then look at where the handle is on the side of the door; you'll find one torx screw there. Take that out, slide the handle towards the front bumper, then gently lift the lock-side of the handle out and remove the handle.

Easy.

dnt no if uve done it yet, but while i was up at gti i was speaking 2 someone as i had mine broken into about 4 weeks ago and aint gonna let that happen again.
u can get just the stopper bit for the lock (so u dnt use the key) and block both sides, u can get them direct from vw for about £5 each. or u could just buy some handles and use them but im getting the block from vw
