coilovers vs dampers

for improved handling and a drop of about 30mm - 35mm would a spring/damper kit from the likes of koni be ok for a Polo GTi

what are the benefits of coilovers as these are much more expensive?

coilovers have the ability to adjust not just damping but also hight too, they are a bit more expensiv but a FK(adjust 20-75mm) set can be had brand new on german ebay for 400 euro, bout Â£270, not too bad for what they can do

coilovers are more expensive than just a spring/ dmaper kit but is worth it cus u can slam it!

To be perfectly honest, a set of H&R Springs go VERY well with the OE Dampers that you already have on the car (as long as they're in good nick).

They lower the car about 35mm and make the ride and handling EXCELLENT!

i've heard lots of bad things from those budget fk coilover's, harsh ride and i dont think they are rust proof either :s , the phrase "get what you pay for" springs to mind
but if you are lowering just to -35mm then the cheaper option would be to just buy the springs and use existing dampers

yeah
the ride is quite peachy at the mo, it bounces a little, but its great fun whizzing round corners low to the ground n bouncing abit

, but it only really bounces when you either accelarate away or brake, and when you hit a bump in the road, you know about it, but its nearly on its softest setting, so i dont get back ache! it handles really well, now i've got 2 new front tyres and the tracking has been done.

thanks guys... Josh, will these springs make the ride REALLY uncomfortable?! Also looking to change my tyres shortly as one has slow puncture and rear ones fairly low... was thinking of getting Toyo's as I only do about 6/7k a year so don't need hard wearing tyres? are these a good choice?
