Fitting new co-axials

Post by alextreg »

I just bought some Alpine 170As for my 1998 Polo but am confused as too whether I'm going to have a problem with the fact that it has components as standard. I obviously intend on replacing the standard door woofers with my new co-axials but this will still leave the standard tweeters connected. I cannot locate where the cable is split so I'm not sure what to do? Will I only be getting the LPF signals to my co-axials? And if this is the case, presumably I will be getting an unnecessary loss in quality?

Surely everyone else has had to fit new door speakers so any help would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers,

I think that the cable for the tweeter comes from the woofer in the door, but i'm not sure. As far as the frequencies the woofer it self must have an incorporated crossover that splits the low freqs and the high ones. So by replacing the woofer in the door the tweeter probably will be disabled.

But check this out cause i'm not 100% sure! :P
