Will be doing service on car 9n middle of next week and would like some recommendations on what to buy re Engine oil/brake pads/discs/oil/air/pollen filters/spark plugs ect. Would appreciate your advice, this is my first Polo and I want to keep it going nice!!

K&N air filter, costs more up front, around £40ish, but the cotton element is washable unlike standard paper ones, think it increases performance as well.

As for the rest, depends when it was last replaced/renewed, look up some VW recommendations of when to change things, double it (jokes), and get it done :)

I'd agree if you want to achieve "keep it going nice".

Okay, for plugs VAG use NGK so get correct model somewhere cheaper than VAG, engine oil - maybe get Fuchs from GSF also they sell Textar and Pagid pads - same as VAG fit at factory (Pagid front Textar rear), discs from GSF or ECP, oil and air filters from VAG. Just remember, you will probably only use a couple of air filter elements in the time you end up owning this car, so K&N might not make sense and if you are generous with oiling it you will cause MAF problems.
