Donations idea!

Post by noodlez_polo »

everyone in this forum has found the diy guides in this forum highly helpful at some point in time so perhaps other people mite be prepared to pay for the guides. with permission from the creators of each guide i would like to sell them for 99p on ebay and any money raised could go to the funding of the forum. :P

this would be a relatively easy process as i could set up the payment details on ebay to make payment into the uk-polos nochez account for donations

does anyone know the prices for advertising on ebay as this could cause some problems to my ingenius plan

things like bee sting ariel guide would probably sell well as this is a common and easy mod.

any thoughts

I like the sound of the idea. I reckon we should at least give it a go for a trial period, and see the response there is. Certain precautions would have to be taken with risks from jobs being undertaken (you know how letigious things have got in recent years!).

in theory it is a good idea m8. selling info that, lets admit it, weve all found useful at some point, shood make sum much needed pennies. My only concern wood b the fact that these "guides" are widely available all over the net, so y wood you pay for them? Or even if 1 person buys it (ie 99p) they cood jst share it with every1.

On a mre positive note, it doesnt hurt 2 try :) so give it a go & see wot £££ can b made 4 the forum.

I think what we should really do is to sell guides grouped by subject, for example we could have a volume on bodywork modifications, one on engine / drivetrain guides, one on ICE.. it'd also be good if they were all rewritten to look fairly professional as well, maybe put them all in PDF files.. I think it could all work with a bit of effort :)

Well... The donation scheme actually works pretty much like this already! All of us forum users have at some point found useful information here - in DIY guides and elsewhere - so in theory the donations could be a sort of 'payment' for that information being available (rather than for the information itself).

if it succeeds great if not never mind worth a try.

Just as long as you have permission from the authors it may not be such a bad idea.

However it probably wont last long as people could just use a search engine to find the forum and get them for nothing!

In all seriousness, would you actually pay 99p on ebay for a guide to fitting a bee-sting aerial?? i know I wouldn't. There are far too many forums out there to ask questions and get given advice and tips...

Nice idea though..

Everyone stop being tight !

Im sure we enjoy this site just as much as Josh, only right we should throw some pennies his way.

Especially if he gives you a funky coloured name on the board :)

*winks at josh*
